Sgt James Conway to Slaymakers

Dear Sir:

I'm awfully sorry but applying for a furlough for your son is beyond my rights. Even I can't get a furlough until they have been given.

I've been transferred from Camp Forrest but I'm sure your son's trip overseas has been postponed indeffinate; I received a letter from a friend in Forrest stating the fact.

I have had only three furloughs in my fourteen months service, but we are usually granted a furlough before going into combat, so for everyone's sake I'm asking you not to worry until the time comes.

Please, don't feel that you have molested me in the least with your letter.

Your friend Jim.
