Wesley to Folks, 10/20/1942

October 20, 1942 Tuesday

Dearest Folks

Will write you a few lines while I am waiting for chow. Seems like thatís the only time I can find to write.

I got a letter from Virginia, 2 Stuart papers (August) and a card from Mrs. Cooper. The papers were old but really enjoy reading them all.

This is a pretty windy country. It donít blow hard but it seems thereís a breeze every day. It sure would be hot if it werenít for that.

We played ball Sunday afternoon, got beat by the first platoon. But last night we beat the 3 battalion headquarters. That makes us 4 wins and 2 losses and we're are just starting into the second half of our league so weíre not the tail end yet.

Gee folks there isnít much to write about. I suppose you have the barn all done and forgot about now. Sure wish I could see it. When you get it all done, take a picture of it and send it to me.

They say some more mail has come in so I am looking forward to some more news from home and Betty. I sure do miss my letters every day.

I was on KP Sunday so never got to write any letters except one to Betty. I want to write to about 10 different people but seems like when I get a letter written to you or Betty my time is all gone. I havenít even written to Virginia for over a week.

All in all folks itís just to let you know Iím fine and get enough to eat , have a place to sleep, and I donít want you to worry about me. I hope this finds you all well and happy and keep your chins up. Iíll be seeing you by and by.

Lots of Love

P.S. Eat plenty of turkey for me.
