Dear Folks

Must write you a line or two to let you know everything us well and Iím fine as can be.

It was really hot today and we went on that 10 mile hike so Iím a little tired. We carried full packs too; first time Iíve carried one for a long time.

I got a swell letter from all of you today noon. Glad you had all the hay mowed down. It won't be long now until itís up. I was worried all the time how you was going to get the hay up.

I havenít heard the mail call tonight yet, so donít know if I got your package you sent yet or not. I sure am looking forward to it.

I guess Iím going to get a new pair of shoes. They said my others were unfixable. Wish dad could have had them; they werenít in such bad shape.

Wish I could see the colts work and really glad you are getting some good out of that Grey. Wish I had a mate to him. Are horses very cheap around there? I see by the paper where cattle and hogs are really a good price.

Mother and all, Iím sorry but I havenít kept up my diary very good but if I get the one you send Iíll write in it all the time.

Iím glad you got some rain and sure glad you are going to have lots of feed. Think Iíll buy me some more stock if youíll keep it for me, or have you buy it.

Gee folks there isnít much news. Wish the mail would come so I know if I got that package or not, and Iím expecting a letter from Betty. I didnít get any yesterday and so I sure aught to get one today.

I donít think Iíll write to Virginia tonight as I got to shave and there really isnít any news.

Iíll bet those fish were good too. We have fish here pretty often and raisins. We sure have been getting lots of those lately too.

Well they had mail call and still no package. Iíll take it all back. Right now a kid in the next tent just brought it in. He got it before I got up there. It sure is swell and thanks a lot for the hankies too. I can use them. I have about a dozen all told now. The diary sure is nice Iím going to read everything in it and the picture sure looks different than I do now. I think I weigh more too.

Well folks guess there just ainít and more, so goodnight and Lots of Love Your Redheaded Son.
