Wesley to Folks, 07/20/1942
Camp Forrest TennJuly 20, 1942 Dearest Folks Must write you a line or two to tell you I’m back out with the
129. They sure have been sending me around. I’m transferred to M. Co and I
guess we are going to more some place I don’t know where. Anyway a different
camp. We came back this morning. This is the same company that Jerome
Baum is in. Most of the guys from A.B.C. & D. Cos were transferred to E. F. G.
H. I. K. L. & M so my address will be PFC Wesley R Slaymaker Co M 129 Inf 33 Div A.P.O. Camp Forrest Tenn This moving is nothing to get worried about. This new division
(is) coming in, we just got to move. Probably will have a better camp. Maybe
on the Coast some place or even closer to home. I sure hope so. I was on guard all night last night so am pretty tired today. It’s
the middle of the afternoon, I haven’t had nothing to do all day only get
straightened around. I haven’t got any mail from you for quite a few days
guess it got mixed up in so many addresses. I’ll probably get a furlough after we get moved. I’m going to see
about it tonight maybe they can tell me something. Well, folks that’s all I know. I don’t know yet if I’m going to
drive over here or not that’s what they sent me over as. I’m going to sent Betty’s letters home so when they come don’t
open them please probably you couldn’t understand them any how. I may send
some other stuff the letters will be in a separate bundle. I feel good and hope all of you do too. Don’t worry please and
I’ll write more soon. Love WesleyP.S. I’m going to send some pictures I got kicking around here. None of me tho. |
