Dearest Folks

Just a few lines to let you know I havenít forgot you although I havenít written for a couple of days. I sure have been busy. They are getting ready for a new bunch of boys and we have to be ready to go get them any time down to the rail head.

I have a new truck with only 209 miles on it. It sure is a dandy but awful stiff and different from my old Jeep.

We get good things to eat here and have to take quite a lot of physical exercise every morning but guess thatís the only way a truck driver could keep in condition.

I went to church this morning. Sure have a nice chaplain here, just a young kid.

It sure is hot here, you just sweat all the time but itís nice and cool at night and I really sleep good.

I would hve got a furlough Friday night if I would have been with the Company yet. Roy Grof is home, talk to him if you see him. I saw him a lot lately, he might could tell you something about me. Iíll get my furlough as soon as I go back to the Company. When, I donít know. Iím going to teach new drivers.

I didnít get to get my mail for 2 days so donít know any news from home. Iíll get it tomorrow I think. You see we canít leave because we may get a call to go get troops any time.

That sure was good poetry you wrote Lloyd Leach. It ought to cheer him up. You want to be careful what you say to him, all his letters are censored.

Well folks guess I better take a shower and go to bet. It sure is good to be back in barracks and Iím fine as can be and like this kind of work good.

My hands are all wet from sweat and are getting the paper wet too.

I got a swell letter from Stub. Heís a PFC now. He did good too. I hope I can add some stripes to mine soon.

Lots of Love

Tell everyone hello.
