Dear Folks

Just a line to let you know how I am, which is pretty good I guess. I got a letter from you and Virginia today. The first mail I go this week.

I havenít had but one letter from Betty since she wrote about Lester. I suppose she had enough to think about, poor kid. Her birthday is the 26th. Sure wish I could be home then but donít know. I think Iíll get a furlough but canít tell you when.

I have got some news for you that is official thou. Yesterday I was in the army 4 months which automatically made me a Buck Pvt. And today they made me a Pvt First Class. I guess Iíll get $54 now. So that will help some. If I could be in a camp close to home I guess I wouldnít mind it so much. I can wear one stripe on my arms /\.

Gee folks I donít know nothing else much except we have that inspection tomorrow and will get up at 4 in the morning so suppose I better write Betty a letter an go to bed so I can get some sleep.

Maybe I can tell you some more news next time.

It sure was too bad about Gordon Carlisle. Has Glenn come home?

Goodnight folks Iíll be seeing you.

Lots of Love
