Dear TC Folks

I received your letter day before yesterday but have been pretty busy and upset to do much of anything.

I may as well tell you now we are leaving within 15 days on a 24 hour notice. We are suppose to go overseas but donít think we will go any farther than one or the other of the coasts. Iíve been expecting it for a long time but did think we would get a furlough first. Of course they have been cancelled now. I hope if we do go to the coast it is some where, some of the boys are that I used to run around with.

I sure wish I could have been there to helped brand the calves and see them at least. Sure bet they are pretty but donít think its going to be so awful long before we all can be home again. I think the Japs and the Germans are about licked especially when they hear that the 129 is on the way over.

We was out on the range last week until Thursday shooting our rifles for record. I made a Marksman thatís not as good as you can get but pretty fair.

I got a letter from Mr. Boie saying he was up there with Bob. He sure thought your little calves were nice.

Most of the boys here sure have been celebrating since they heard that they have to leave.

Virginia is working down at Orchard for Arlene while she is visiting. Her husbands in Texas, I sure wish I could have saw Betty before I went across if I have to go but guess it canít be arranged, its just one of those things we have to do for our country.

I was on guard again Thursday and Friday sure was tired after that. We really have been going to it the last 2 or 3 weeks and suppose will keep at it until something happens.

Todays Mothers Day. Quite a few mothers here but not so many as there is sons. Most of them drunk. Its pretty hard to take, what I have to, but I never drawed a soberer breath than I am right now and intend to stay that way. I donít know how often I can write. If I do have to go overseas, write as often as you can. Letters will help like hell.

Love and Luck
